Lettuce talk

This is what I call my zombie lettuce–after finishing the living lettuce purchased at the grocery store, the root still looked healthy, so I grabbed some compost and potting soil and planted it. I actually did three, but I overwatered the first one.

Then while out to our hunting property last week, we spotted some giant puffball mushrooms in the adjacent field. I roasted some jalapeño peppers and garlic to add to the chopped mushroom to make a pesto-like condiment.

And the cooler weather makes quilting more pleasant, so I pulled out my 2017 summer sampler. I have about 3/4 of the border left to finish all the background, then I need to go back and add some light quilting to each colored block to stabilize and secure the fabrics.
