Like thousands of you, this week I made masks and scrubs bags. My local hospital, Northumberland Hills Hospital, partnered with my employer to make reusable masks for outpatients and others who require some protection but aren’t ill with Covid-19. I dropped off the scrub bags and mask buddies (to hold the elastics instead of sore ears) yesterday and the attendant at the desk was very appreciative.
The fabric for the ties was quite tightly-woven, but a 90/14 microtex needle worked well. At one point, the fabric was sliding around under my pressure foot, and I had to clear lint from between the feed dogs. I placed tape on my cutting table for how long to cut the ties.
I now return to my long list of WIP. I made a shorter finish-a-long list for this quarter. Here it is for posterity (the finish-a-long is on instagram so I have a post over there).
1. Summer sampler quilt – quilting 3/4 done
2. Frolic quilt
3. Sewing machine pillow (yes it’s on the list yet again)
4. Camo trousers
5. 100 blocks baby quilt
6. Side Hustle laptop bag
The Starbright quilt is getting a lot of attention these days since I spend as much time on the phone as anything else during work-from-home hours, and keeping my hands occupied helps my mind focus on the meeting and not on checking emails (I get over 100 emails a day, and some of them are important, and a lot of them are not).
