Finale to the bag of the month

I didn’t plan on making 5 out of the 6 patterns from the 2018 bag of the month club, but somehow it happened. With the warmer weather, quilts are less appealing as a sewing activity so I pulled out the pieces of the March Stargazer bag. Patterns are never written the way I want to make them–I want to make all the subcomponents and fiddly bits, then put them all together. I also like making the lining first–because any mistakes are hidden. The lining is Alison Glass in fuschia, as is the piping, to give the bag a bit of excitement.

So I jumped around and put the parts and pieces together–sure gray or black vinyl might have matched better, but navy is what I had so be it.

A big thanks goes to two Instagram friends for sharing the Koi canvas during last year’s #getyourquiltywishesgranted3 .

I would highly recommend this club–the patterns are detailed and achievable to an ambitious beginner, and interesting enough for a more experienced sewist. This pattern will be available to the general public next month, from Blue Calla Patterns.

Woohoo! Linking up to TGIFF with Alycia Quilts

  1. That is a really cool bag!! What a lot of work…. ps the direct link you posted at TGIFFriday didn’t work right……

    1. Thanks for the feedback, I think I used the preview URL instead of the actual post URL. I’ve fixed it.
