Squares and Triangles

I have a confession to make. I started another new project.

I saw many pretty Mandolin Quilt blocks popping up in my Instagram and blog feeds, so I have jumped in. The first set of papers I cut out by hand, then I found a Canadian supplier (Eagles Wings Quilts) and ordered enough for at least half a quilt.

I am using pretty pinks and greens, with some turquoise, maybe some neutrals–basically whatever I feel like. I am also using some of my stock of butterfly motif fabric. Here is my first block in progress and the fabrics for the second. Hmm, I’m not sure I like that center hexagon, I may change it. I haven’t decided on colours for the setting yet.

How about you, have I tempted you to join in? Linking up to Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts for Let’s Bee Social.

  1. These use an interesting variety of shapes. I like how it looks but I’ve been working very slowly on my diamond stars so I think I should stay with those.

    1. I have the feeling – now with still the outer row of the first block to finish – that I’ll make a lot fewer than the sample quilt at Tales of Cloth. No matter, it’s a fun way to fill in some quiet time.

  2. I have WAY too many things on the go already to try this quilt (or EPP) – but I’m glad that you found Cathy’s website!

  3. Wow! This block looks like it might take some time to sew together! I always like to see where you start and where you end with color combinations. Be sure to keep us posted!

  4. It looks great. Thanks for the tip on the Canadian store.
