2018 Planning party

I’ve done this review and look ahead for two years now, here is the link for 2017 . So what is up for 2018?

I moved (was told to move) to a new group, albeit in the same department, in March of this past year, which after the shock wore off and I got to know my new team and get my feet under me, turned out to be positive on so many levels. I feel much more balanced at work and confident that I am making an impact on my team and my peers. I even got to be in a video twice to be broadcast across the site! On the quilting front, I did complete a lot of items, and am slowly working down my backlog. Maybe next year I’ll catch up! I didn’t do very much garment sewing, and would like to do more. Here is a recent finish — velvet trousers for my daughter to play Santa in the school play (which was canceled due to bad weather after all that).

Santa trousers, size 8

So my goals for next year are to maintain a solid work-life balance, support my family, keep the cobwebs to the corners, and get back to garment sewing. I treated myself to the 2018 Quilter’s Planner, and need to get it filled up and use it more than I did last year. (So far, I think the colouring pages will be great for taking a little me time and may be the most used pages in the whole book…).

The other goal I have for the year is to make some handmade totes and bags, so I have purchased the bag of the month club for January – June and am eagerly waiting for the first pattern. One of the ideas from this planning party is to have an accountability partner–please let me know if you are in the bag of the month club too and we can cheer each other on! Linking up to Quilting Jetgirl.

  1. It sounds like you handled a surprising career shift with grace and I’m so glad you are settled in and feeling positive about it. I hope you find a great balance in the new year and thank you so much for linking up!

    1. Thank you and wishes for a happy and healthy 2018.

  2. I love the term keep the cobwebs to the corners…I hope you manage to do this as you balance work, family life and sewing. Have fun making the bags.

    1. Thank you and all the best for 2018!

  3. Love the Santa pants. Good luck with your 2018 goals.

  4. Those red pants are so cute. Too bad the play was cancelled. Hope she still wears them anyway. Good luck with your goals. I’m not much of a bag maker so unfortunately I can’t help you there.

    1. Thanks for stopping by!
