More pink

Step 3 of On Ringo Lake is added many…many… more pink diamonds to my pile of finished units. I didn’t start sewing last week’s clue until Saturday…another case of slow and steady wins the race. Here are my posts from Step 1 and Step 2.

I made a template for these and taped it to my flying geese ruler, it’s a bit easier than using the template plastic by itself. Since I am using a single background fabric, I can’t afford to run out of it so I needed to use the most efficient way of piecing. The first template I cut one inch too long, but I only cut 3 diamonds before stitching them up to check my sizing, so it was easy enough to fix those three.

I thought I would show you my set-up. My Husqvarna has a very nice 1/4″ seam so I used it last weekend at the cottage, and for these pieces. When I first pulled it out, the weak non-LED light was not going to meet my needs, so I found this LED light strip which my husband had bought for the kitchen, but didn’t work, and gently bent it into place. Unfortunately I have broken the connector already, but fortunately since it came with 3 strips I had an extra, and it was easy to replace.

All the photos in this post were taken on my phone, which automatically uploads to flickr when I’m on wifi. As I went through my photos to make a calendar for the grandparents for Christmas, I realized that many more of my daily shots are being taken on my phone, and often I don’t even take my “big” DSLR on outings. And most of the photos look pretty darn good.

LED light strip

Are you ready for Christmas, or are you still doing last minute items? I was able to tidy the living room Saturday (which includes a play area for my daughter, which was most of the work), but I still have to bake some cookies and buy stocking stuffers, in-between finishing up mystery quilt units.

Linking up to Bonnie Hunter for mystery Monday linkup and Let’s Bee Social with Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts. Have a great week!

  1. I need to try one of those LED strips!

  2. Very pretty pinks!

  3. Your new blocks look great. I like the light strip. I hope it works well for you.

  4. Your pink units look awesome!

    1. Thanks Alison! I like that I don’t have to press one end before sewing the other.

  5. […] On Ringo Lake clue #4 has us making triangles (once again, note that this link will expire). Hmm, are we doing an on point setting or will we be coming back to add the other half of the square? I’m sewing along at 1/4 of the pieces which is very manageable, and I’ll wait to see if I want a bigger quilt once the design is revealed. See my previous posts for Clue #1, Clue #2, Clue #3. […]
