Finish-A-Long Results for Q4 of 2013

Great! I finished 4 out of 6 of my goals, and I’m really looking forward to staying committed to finishing more projects in Q1. My goal setting post is here.

New this quarter:

Camouflage jacket for my daughter — done

Christmas tree pants — done (blogged here)

Ruby Lou doll for my daughter — done (blogged here)

Recycling:

First, the Sew Serendipity lunch bucket bag.  — no progress. Meh, I shall have to reconsider if I will ever make this.

Bonnie Hunter 2012 mystery quilt, Easy Street.  I did 4 or 5 blocks, but this will have to be number one priority for next quarter.

Christmas throw — Hurray, done today, January 3, and linked up with Leanne at she can quilt with this post. (Also linking to Crazy Mom Quilts and TGIFF with Quokka Quilts. Mistakes I made–I left the stars unquilted, and plus by basting this several months ago, ended up with some major puckers in the back. I picked out two but left the others. I flipped the backing edge over in one section, and had to pick it out too. In some cases the FMQ stitches are awfully big and the tension is wonky, but I improved over this quilt which only tells me I need to do a lot more quilting.

Things I like–the green-gold variegated thread worked nicely on all the different fabrics. I used gray in the bobbin, which was a similar colour value so forgiving of thread pops. I quilted my name, town, and year in the FMQ but I will add a label too. And of course this quilt was put into immediate use during quiet time this afternoon, which makes it all worthwhile. I named this quilt Merry Stars.
