Quilting Along Virtually

You may have noticed that one of my buttons (or widgets, in WordPress speak) there on the sidebar — go on, scroll down and look at it — is for the Virtual Quilting Bee at Diary of a Quilter. I have to say it’s really more of a quilt-along, and since we don’t know what the blocks will look like, it’s a bit of a mystery as well.

I really enjoyed the Easy Street mystery I did with Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville (go to this post to see my first block), so I jumped into this one and picked out fabrics to suit my nephew. He’s 14, so everything has to be guy-friendly. He asked for navy, aqua, and orange, which I think is going to look fantastic.

Here are blocks 1 and 3 which I’ve completed so far:

Since he wants a queen size quilt I’m going to have to make at least 2 of each block. I’m thinking I’ll do a larger block for the centre, for a medallion effect. The second block in the series didn’t appeal to me, so I skipped it.

Amy is posting another one today (April 19), why don’t you pop over to Diary of a Quilter and have a look?
